I liked the dystopian elements and the whole XVI was an interesting concept.
Characters: Nina, the MC, was fun. I didn't get emotionally invested in her story though, sadly not a new thing in YA for me. I wanted things to go well for her and Dee and Sal and everything, but I can't say I was invested in their stories. I kind of liked her, but she came through as somehow distant. Maybe it's not the right word for it, but I can't find another.
Other characters were fun too, but again, I can't say I 'felt' them either. Not sure why, but the chemistry wasn't there much.
Fav Character: None Sad
Plot: The story is interesting, especially the XVI spin and the whole what it means to be an adult thing. The Resistance and everything about it was interesting as a concept, but as events unfolded I didn't too excited for some reason.
Writing: First person narrative, Nina's POV. Lovely storytelling, but for me it lacked that element of excitement, of tension. It has a somewhat steady flow, and I didn't respond to it much sadly.
Curb Appeal: Very interesting cover and good blurb. When it the mood for YA Dystopia, this would be a good candidate.

I might try the second book, but I'm not pumped to read it. Maybe it's this damned heat wave draining me of excitement, I don't know.
All in all, this was a good read but I didn't get that element of tension and excitement that makes Dystopia work for me.
